This presentation frames loneliness and chronic pain among older Latino adults as interrelated critical health issues shaped by social and contextual forces, including migration histories, discrimination, poverty, and under resourced systems of care. It draws on Dr. Camacho’s research program examining loneliness, chronic pain, and cognitive health across diverse United States adult populations and his work focused on these issues in midlife
and later life. The session advances an expressive, narrative approach grounded in trauma informed principles of safety, trustworthiness, collaboration, and empowerment to elevate the voices of older adults and translate their lived experiences into practice within real world settings.
